Regenerative Braking in Electric Vehicle Using By-Wire Braking System
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Electric vehicles are the future modes of transport replacing all other fuel consuming vehicles. Vehicles running on fossil fuels are one the reasons of global pollution as it causes adverse effects on environment. Electric vehicles are more eco-friendly, since the electric vehicles have zero emissions. The project aims to imply regenerative braking system in an electric vehicle with the help of by-wire brake system. Regenerative braking system is able to recover potential energy and kinetic energy and store it to a battery during braking, is said to be special system for electric vehicles. Regenerative braking system is normally replacing conventional frictional braking system to stop the electric vehicle. Brake by-wire technology is used to control the brakes of the vehicle through electrical means using sensors and actuators. It makes the braking force modulation more flexible. Brake pedal is decoupled from the hydraulic brakes using brake by-wire system. A regenerative braking implemented in an electric vehicle with brake-by-wire system is researched in this paper with the aspects of efficiency of regeneration and performance of the braking.
