FHRCT:Fuzzy Based Hop-By-Hop Rate Control Technique for Reducing Congestion in Wireless Sensor Networks
Subscribe/Renew Journal
In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) the congestion plays a vital role in degrading the performance of the network. Under idle condition, the transmission rate is low whereas when an event is detected, it increases the transmission rate, thus leading to congestion in the network. An efficient protocol to detect and control congestion is proposed. This paper focuses on congestion due to concurrent transmission. Congestion is detected by calculating a metric called Congestion Degree (Cd). Once the congestion is detected the notification signal is sent to all intermediate nodes using Implicit Congestion Notification (ICN) signalling. On receiving the congestion notification signal, the intermediate nodes adjust their transmission rate in order to control congestion. In this paper, a new technique called Fuzzy Based Hop-by-Hop Rate Control Technique (FHRCT) is implemented to control congestion and to increase the performance of the network.
