This manual is designed to offer simple guidelines for the treatment of severe protein energy malnutrition (PEM). In spite of all the progress made in this field, children presenting severe forms of marasmic, kwashiorkor, and marasmic kwashiorkor are still dying at a very high rate, even when they are hospitialized.
