Engineering might have been derived from old french engigneor or latin ingeniatorem ingeniare. Ingenuity is more dignified than technique derived from Greek tekhnikos. While engineering knowledge is acquired through study of fundamental disciplines, technique may be mastered by means of trial and error. Engineering education starts with the learning of fundamental principles of sources of power and forces of nature. Some people call this technological education, for production of technologist or scientist trained in the application of science to industry. Engineering, therefore, embraces fundamental science and technology and of course, technique.
