Under the shadow of steel shortage in the country and consequent large quantity of its import from many countries of the world, Govt. of India, through its Ministry of Railways, launched a project to build a Rail-cum-Road Bridge over the river Ganga at Mokameh about 60 miles downstream of Patna, capital of the State of Bihar.
