The Metropolitan Transport Project (Railway) is entrusted with the charge of constructing a Tube Railway in Calcutta as an additional means of transport to meet the increasing traffic needs in the metropolis. At present, a length of about 17 km of track extending from Dum Dum to Tollyganj is under execution.
