In view of the interest which Mr. Ramaswamy Aiyar's prize problem has aroused and the several proofs of it appearing in Part II of this Journal, it may be of value to point out the order of ideas in geometry to which it is related and, while discussing it in detail, draw attention to problems in other fields which it suggests.
