In [7,§ 13] Ramanujan sketches the genesis of 3 remarkable series for 1/π. In § 14, with essentially no explanation, he gives 14 more remarkable series. Hardy [3], quoting Mordell, observes that “it is unfortunate that Ramanujan has not developed in detail the corresponding theories.”
