





A Study to Assess the Knowledge of Mothers Regarding home Management of Minor Ailments among under Five Children in selected Areas of Mysuru District

Introduction: Assessing mothers’ knowledge and practices in managing minor illness is very important in order to ensure safe and effective ways of managing minor illnesses and decrease complications and hospitalization. Aim and objectives: The main aim of the study was to assess the knowledge of mothers regarding home management of minor ailments among under five children in selected rural areas of Mysore. Approach and design: In the study, Descriptive survey approach was used. Samples and sampling criteria: the knowledge of mothers regarding home management of minor ailments among under five children was assessed among 60 rural women. Purposive sampling technique was adopted. The knowledge was measured by using structured knowledge questionnaire. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Result: It was found that maximum number 25 (41.6%) mothers have average knowledge regarding home management of minor ailments. The mean knowledge score was 14.92.There is an association found between knowledge of mothers of under five children regarding home management of minor ailments and their selected personal variables like age and occupation.
