





A Study to Assess the Knowledge and Practice Regarding Disaster Management Among IV Year B.SC(N) Students in Bishop’s College of Nursing Dharapuram

Non experimental descriptive design was adopted to assess the knowledge regarding disaster management among IV year B.SC(N) students. Data collected from 45 samples. Knowledge and practice regarding disaster management among the IV year B.SC(N) students, that 5(11%) had inadequate knowledge, about 33(73%) had moderately adequate and 7(16%) had adequate knowledge that 1(2%) had inadequate practice, about 35(78%) had moderately adequate and 9(20%) had adequate practice. mean score of knowledge and practice were 14.37(SD = 3.122) and 9.4(SD = 2.047) respectively. Chi square value were calculated to find out the association between knowledge and practice regarding disaster management among IV year B.SC(N) students, with age (χ<sup>2</sup> = 3.86) association with religion (χ<sup>2</sup> = 5.96) and association with income (χ<sup>2</sup> = 3.94), with age (χ<sup>2</sup> = 7.54) association with religion (χ<sup>2</sup> = 0.87) and association with income (χ<sup>2</sup> =0 .41). there is no statically significant association between the selected demographic variables sex and income, but age only significant with the practice regarding disaster management among IV year B.SC(N) students.
