Fasting is common to many religions of the world. In some religions, one food may be substituted for another, in other religions, foods may be abstained from altogether. Other reasons for fasting include weight loss, medical and protest. Muslims fast to fulfill a religious obligation and to earn blessings and rewards of God. The month of Ramzan contains 28 to 30 days.
