Surface Condenser Operation and Effect of Cleaning

Maintenance of vacuum in a surface condenser has got important bearings on the operation (heat rate) of a turbogenerator set. Amongst many factors affecting the vacuum, fouling of the tubes and collection of dirt is very important. Here the economic aspect of different methods of condenser-cleaning is discussed and evaluated. In the context of the recent emphasis on economic drives for saving of fuel the present discussion may be useful.
