The fields of application of those industrial processes in which the characteristics of solid-liquid systems are important, are wide and many. Table 1 indicates some of the processes and industrial operations which depend on, or relate to solid-liquid systems. The purpose of this paper is to review the state-of-the-art and the present technology of solid transport in pipes. It includes three sections : 1) Hydrodynamics, 2) Technology, and 3) Economics.
