A Study on the Banking Sector Scenario of the North-East Region of India

The current study focus on the banking sector scenario of the north-east region of India. At the same time it is also tried to show a comparative picture of the region with the national level. To understand the comparative scenario secondary data have been collected from the Annual Report of Returns of Scheduled Commercial Banks in India, a RBI publication and certain other important sources. As per requirement data have been compiled by the researcher and put the required calculations in proper tables. To understand the picture various ranges of variables taken for the study are like types of deposit, CD ratio, per office deposit and credit, per capita deposit and credit, deposit and credit in terms of state gross domestic product etc. On the basis of the studied variables findings have been sorted out.
