Correlation of EEG & CT Scan of Head in Partial Seizure
Subscribe/Renew Journal
The finding of the present study of 50 cases of partial seizures has been correlated with EEG & CT scan of head. The male & female cases in this study were 1:2.Age of patient ranged from 10 to 70 yrs (Mean 27 yr).Max. patients were in 20-30 yr & more than 50% were under 30 yrs. aetiology varied from idiopathic in 40%,tubercular granuloma in 14%,NCC in 18%,tumor in 18%, CVA in 6%,brain atrophy in 2%.Majority below 30 yrs were having idiopathic partial seizure.CVA & ICSOL were major cause in patients above 40 yrs. Max. number of seizure began in upper limb 54%,followed by face 40% & lower limb 6%.Simple partial seizure were in 62%,complex partial in 26%,sec.generalisation in12%.Interictal EEG done in 6-48 hrs following seizure was normal in 48% cases, localization in 52%.,focus corresponds to clinical localization in 13 patients(26%).CT scan finding were normal in 40%& focal abnormality in 60%.Out of 30 patient showing localization, in 16 patients(52%) CT defined site corresponded to clinical localization. There is significant association between site of epileptic focus defined by EEG & site of lesion demonstrated by CT in case of partial seizure & partial with seizure generalisation(p<0.001).
