Objective: The present study was done with an aim to find out the important measurements that will significantly differentiate the sex of femur and its fragments.

Materials and Method: For the study 100 femora, 70 of unknown sex and 30 (15 male, 15 female) of known sex were obtained from the Department of Anatomy of BLDEA'S Shri B.M.Patil Medical College Hospital and Research Centre Bijapur, and 13 parameters were studied.

Result: After obtaining the measurements for each femur, statistical analysis was done using three steps of analysis. It was found that the value of maximum length, vertical diameter and anteroposterior diameter of head were important parameters for sex determination in femur.

Conclusion: Femur obtained as whole is more useful for sex assessment, but if found in fragments, upper end is more determinative of its sex.
