





Pilgrimage Tourism: An Empirical Study of Pilgrims' Behaviour in North India

This research paper is an attempt to study the Pilgrim's Behaviour in North India. The study covers five important pilgrim sites namely Vaishno Devi (J&K), Chintpurni/Jwalaji (H.P.), Golden Temple (Punjab), Kurukshetra (Haryana) and Haridwar (Uttaranchal). The main behavioural aspects studied include Purpose of visit, Frequency of visit, Sources of information used, Mode of transportation used, Accommodation preferred to stay, Reason for stay at a particular place, Days of stay at the site and Total expenditure per person.
