Freedom of Choice in the Determination of the Possibility (Allowable Cut) of a Country
Subscribe/Renew Journal
The problem of determining the possibility for a management unit is in part the same as that of calculating the possibility for a whole country. However, the latter also involves a number of other problems, since the effect of forestry and variations in the annual cut must be taken into consideration. The paper discusses certain principles involved in this question in three different types of conditions: (a) a country with excess growing stock, (b) a country with normal or optimal growing stock, (c) a country with a growing stock below normal. Finland, with its northern half of the first type and its southern half of the third type, is an interesting example.
