Subscribe/Renew Journal
The occurrence of Xylia xylocarpa Taub., in relation to soil, climate and topography for the North Kanara district is discussed. This species which is generally said to occur on laterite, is seen to grow equally well on other geological formations, i.e. schist, shale, sandstone, gneiss/granite, etc. The role of Xylia as an indicator in explaining the succession of forest communities is also discussed.
