





Right to Information and Information Literacy: an Indian Perspective

Information and Knowledge are critical for realizing all the human aspirations. In the knowledge society in which we live today, acquisition of information and knowledge and its application have intense and pervasive impact in the processes of exercising their political, economic and legal rights. In the present era, India is on the uppermost belt of all developing countries. To enhance this „Technology boom‟, Government of India has enforced the Right to Information Act. This paper discusses, the concept of Right to Information & Information Literacy, the initiatives taken to promote information literacy in India, the issue of how to promote information literacy to make good use of information, so that they can effectively use RTI and can participate in the process of development.
